in 1971 and 1972 was Tod
Thompson.
From 1971-1975 the GHS team finished third place in league behind Crescenta Valley

named to the first team all-Foothill League after leading GHS to a 4-6 league mark
and third place finish.
The 1972 team finished 4-4 in league play. The team beat league foes Blair
and Burroughs but lost to CV and Burbank.
In 1973 Chris Kaufman took over as head coach. The team picked up 10-8 and

Coach Bob Briggs took over for the 1978 season. GHS was expected
to win the league and challenge for a CIF title until four starters had to removed
from the team for disciplinary reasons. The team was ranked as high as 6th in CIF
but finished second to Hoover in league play. The Nitros lost to Cabrillo in the
CIF playoffs. The team featured All-CIF swimmer John MacKinnon and goalie

swimming and water polo coach at Crescenta Valley in the 90s.
The 1979 team won the 1979 FOOTHILL
LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP. John MacKinnon and Mike Campbell led the Dynamiters. The team was 4-8 in non-league play but came together
